Dr. Arthur Day Appointed Chair of Department of Neurosurgery

The fight to eliminate meningioma and advance our understanding of these and other primary brain tumors has grown stronger with the naming of Dr. Arthur Day as chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH).

The appointment of Dr. Day as Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery furthers the legacy and the impact this department has had on the neurosciences field.  Dr. Day brings a wealth of talent and experience to the leadership position. Dr. Day has worked for BWH for the past five years during which time he has bolstered relationships with his colleagues across disciplines.

Day also serves as residency program director for the BWH and Children’s Hospital joint residency program in Neurosurgery, as well as president of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and chair of the American Board of Neurological Surgery. A nationally noted scholar, he has authored many papers and chapters on the nervous system.

Day received his MD from Louisiana State University and completed his residency at the University of Florida. He began his career at the University of Florida as professor and co-chair of his department.

The Brain Science Foundation looks forward to working with Dr. Day as we strengthen our collaboration with the talented researchers and clinicians who, under his leadership, will continue to improve our understanding of meningioma and other primary brain tumors while accelerating the movement of research from the lab to the patient.
